Pandit Divyang Vakil’s compositions flow with the sound of modern music, while retaining the classical essence and richness. With thousands compositions to his name, he has given shape to modern form of classical tabla playing. In addition to passing on traditional tabla compositions to his students, he also teaches them his own contemporary classical tabla compositions.
One specialty is his contemporary tabla ensembles. Showcasing the power of pure tabla, these 2 to 5 member ensembles perform highly intricate compositions in perfect synchronization and harmony. Its mood and impact strikes a chord with audiences, including those who don’t traditionally listen to pure classical tabla.
